After a month or so of agonizing between the new iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre and mostly exasperated reviews of how the Pre has terrible service in the hospitals I work at and in and around New Orleans generally, I finally decided to get an iPhone. Two days ago, I walked into my neighborhood AT&T store and it went something like this:
Me: I want to upgrade to an iPhone.
AT&T guy: You want the 3G?
Me: I want the new one.
AT&T guy: Really? It's $100 more and not better. I have the old one and I'm a phone guy.
Me: (A phone guy? Really?) No, I want the new one. It has more hard drive space.
AT&T guy: What would you do with all that space anyway? Do you really listen to that much music?
Me: Well, I also use the video camera on my Centro quite often.
AT&T guy: You can get an app for that on the 3G.
Me: But it's faster. My resident clocked her new 3GS against her fiancee's 3G and it is actually 2 seconds faster to start up an application.
AT&T guy: No it isn't. And we have the 3G in stock now. You'll have to wait 7-14 days to get the other one.
Aren't you in the business of SELLING PHONES??? Don't you want my extra hundred dollars??
