sounds like a terrible idea, but can be fun with the right crowd and 5x5' towels!

I expect I'll be super exhausted in the morning...

On the bright side, not only have I figured out a ridiculously round-about way to streaming energy 92.7 on my computer, I can actually get it on the radio driving around town and when driving to San Ramon, but not to Walnut Creek.  Makes sense, since it is an Alameda station, but annoying whenever I drive slightly out of range...

Trying to test out functions - posted my first google video today.  It's a video of Bunny my sister made when I was away in grad school and missed him.

Working on the route for my road trip in July - went to the AAA office to get some maps made up, got some hay for Bunny at the livery, got some dinner fixings at Costco + a portable hard drive to back up my files, then a quick stop at Trader Joe's for 2 buck chuck, among other things.

Thinking about going out tonight - without driving all the way into the city.  I'll probably just go swimming at Mac's.

Still no sugar at the office - felt a little silly eating a popsicle again this morning, so I went for a block of brie I had in the fridge at 9am.  Not bad for breakfast.

I made a concentrated effort to get out of the house a few minutes before seven this morning to get a parking spot - good thing -  another day in the 90s out in the East Bay.

Today was the second day of intense presentation prep for our conference next week - Aaron expects that he and I won't be speaking by the time the event actually rolls around.  But there will be a wine reception again after this conference, and I'm sure more discussion around the boss's secret penchant for MTV will be a re-bonding experience.

I usually have a big cup of coffee in the morning and skip breakfast, but we're out of real sugar at the office and this morning I needed to eat something.  My options today were mini Snickers, potato chips or popsicles.  Obviously, I went for the popsicle - dark chocolate-covered organic blackberry ice cream on a stick.  Totally hit the spot.  I might have to start eating popsicles for breakfast regularly.

Got to BART a few minutes later than planned - had to park on the roof, so I made sure to put my ugly reflective sunshade in the windshield.  Still, I got back from SF at 6pm and my car temperature was registering at 114º.  Yikes.  I'll have to start trying to get out of the house earlier.

Headed down to Broadway Plaza and got a prime parking spot there, fortunately.  It's usually the battle of the BMWs in that garage for a place to park.  Lauren and my favorite store was having a sale on bath products - off to take a shower now so I can smell all the new fun things I bought.

Yeah...the matching nails/drink thing isn't really a surprising comment at work.

Last week during the wine reception, sometime before my middle-aged boss proclaimed his love for reality shows on MTV, I was talking about how I started the process for the Health Professions Scholarship Program with the Air Force and eventually decided against it.  My boss looks at me and says, "Anyone who likes shoes as much as you do should not join the military."

This is right after the COO tells me that I have to drink up at the reception to make up for the usual consumption of the office lush who wasn't in attendance.  (Office lush wasn't my description of her, but this seems to be well known around the office.)  I was pretty mortified, thinking that I had developed a reputation I didn't know about, until I realized the reason behind the joke was that she attended my alma mater 10 years before me.  Not a bad thing, I guess, to inherit the right to a lot of free booze.

Got the last covered parking space today at WC BART - good thing because it was pretty warm out in the East Bay.  A nice man let me have a seat on the train - I was so stunned I barely said thank you.  I actually may have looked at him like he was crazy.

We all jumped ship early at work and headed down to Americano in the Hotel Vitale down on Embarcadero for a coworker's going away party.  (Another med school departure.)  I ordered an Americano Bellini (prosecco with prickly pear cactus juice) and ended up with a champagne flute of hot pink bubbly!  Evidently it matched my manicure really well, but it definitely looked better than it tasted.

Not much excitement today...very busy putting together presentations for next week's conference.

Because his assistance is needed again.

Altogether it was a pretty good night.  Reconnected with some old HS friends at the gala, found a fantastic excuse to make some minor alterations and wear my bridesmaid dress from Liz's wedding again.  And I watched a bunch middle-asian folks do the macarena.

Middle school dances, anyone?

The YMCA came on immediately after, but fortunately the DJ avoided the chicken dance song or anything else that had dancing instructions in the lyrics.

He did play  pretty awesome mix of Akon's "Don't Matter" and "The Sweet Escape."

Bunny has been making quite a mess outside his cage lately, so I decided  to keep his cage door closed yesterday.  I got home late last night, and my dad asks me, Why is Bunny locked up like Paris Hilton?

Yesterday was an exhausting day - starting at 5am.  Worked and networked all day, until the wine reception post-conference, where we plied the boss with a few glasses of wine and had a lively discussion about superfund sites and his favorite show, I Love New York.

Since Thursday was a long day, I worked a half day today (Friday), and slept in until 9.  There was a time in my life (ie. grad school) when 9am was really early for me to be getting up.  It did allow me to get recharge in time for the championship game at ultimate this evening.  We still lost, but good times were had by all.  The highlight was when someone started a round of "Mingle" after the last point was called.

Afterward, I circled around Russian Hill for half an hour before finally finding a prime parking spot right by Mac's apartment.  I showered and we griped about boys together before heading down the street to a cute little French restaurant.  He was pretty beat from the conference yesterday as well (and he didn't get to sleep in Friday morning) so he went home and I stopped by Crystal Towers.

Went with Chris and Dan to what is apparently the most fratastic bar in San Francisco.  I still think the place we went to last week was worse, but I might be in the minority.

(I later learned this bar essentially has a giant trough in the men's room instead of multiple urinals.  Sick.)

Tomorrow's the annual Gala, so I expect it'll be pretty chaotic here at home.  I can't actually get out the front door because my sister stashed all of the raffle prizes and auction items there.  Not looking forward to all the craziness that goes on every year, but the raffle prize is a weekend BMW rental and stay at the San Francisco Ritz...

and they lost to the A's anyway.  But the whole family went, so it was a blast.  Plus, we sat in a section of other Red Sox fans who were hilarious and kept us all entertained.  It was very cold and windy, so I was glad to have my North Face down vest - yes, it's June in California.

I was a little late because we had a reception for a guest in our office - the former Chilean ambassador to France, among other things - and he had some interesting things to say about international public health initiatives, so I didn't want to leave.  I only missed the first inning, and we never scored, so that was okay.  I did get to see Ortiz's broken bat hit that turned into a double play. Booooo.
